The work is the argument.

Three jobs that show how we run a project — from an aircraft suspended in a museum atrium to a truck chassis stripped back in our own workshop. Where a client has said it better than we could, we’ve used their words.

In 2022 the Air Force Museum of New Zealand commissioned a suspension system to hang an aircraft in its atrium — a one-off structure in a public building, with museum operations continuing around the work.

Harward + Son project-managed the job end to end and manufactured the suspension system, recommending solutions as questions arose and implementing them as requested.

It was one of several jobs the museum has brought to us across five years of working on their Defence Area.

“Their communications were excellent, timely and cordial… the quality of their workmanship was superb in every instance.”

Hangar door & rail remediation

  • SITE WORK

The museum’s older hangars run on ageing doors and door rails — heavy steelwork that needed major remediation, on a working Defence Area site.

We carried out the remediation in 2023: assessing the doors and rails, manufacturing what needed replacing, and completing the site work with as little impact on the surrounding areas as possible.

Delivery stayed on schedule even when deliveries and delays sat outside anyone’s control — the museum’s assessment of our time management was “first-rate”.

“Their time management was first-rate, even when delays or deliveries were frustratingly out of their control.”

RJ Lincoln Logistics brought us “The Leader” — a working truck whose chassis needed stripping back and restoring properly.

The workshop did the heavy lifting: industrial sandblasting of the chassis, refinishing, and the certification paperwork sorted along the way — from first contact to finished product.

“You just can’t fault the workmanship of the guys, from the first contact to the finished product.”
